A personalised bedtime story
The one with your child in it.
A twenty-page story where your child is the hero — their name through every page, their face on every picture, drawn from six words you write. Never a photo.

You describe your child the way you would to a friend. We build the book around exactly that — and it stays the same on every page.

- Skinin your words
- Eyesand glasses, or freckles
- Favourite colourit turns up everywhere
Plus a companion animal, and what your child calls their grown-up.
How it's made
- You send the six words at checkout.
- Within three days you get all twenty pages to read through.
- You approve every page. Then it's yours — a PDF, or a hardcover we print and post.
One person writes and checks every book before it goes out. A hand-written story with a real beginning, middle and end, and one steady art style — so your child looks like themselves from the first page to the last.
No photographs. Ever.
We never ask for, keep, or process a picture of a child. The child in the book is built entirely from words — the hair, the skin, the eyes, the gap in the front teeth, the colour they would paint the whole world if you let them. That is the whole idea.
The first story
[Your child] and the Dark
Click. The room went dark, and the room went strange. The drawer was a mouth now. The coat on the hook had shoulders.
A bedtime story where your child wakes in the dark, gets genuinely scared, and works it out themselves. No one comes to the rescue — they don't need to. The last page reads: "Look how much you can see now."
Their free five-page book
A short, complete story with your child's name running through it — made by hand and sent to your inbox, usually within a few hours. If you like it, the full twenty-page book is there when you want it.
Or just write to hello@theonewithyouinit.com with a name and three words.
I started this because the books where a child is the "hero" are never really about that child. This one is. Every book is written and checked by hand before it's sent.
